THE LOYAL DOG

Once Upon a time,

In a land not far from here
There was an old Fisherman by the name of Jacob

He lived alone except for his pet dog, Boy.
He was a simple man, you see,

and Boy was the best name he could think of for his dog

The Fisherman was loved by the entire village, and was an honored guest at many homes
He had want for nothing in his life, 'cept the love of his dog.

He was getting along in age, and the day came when the old man passed away quietly in the night

Boy sat at the foot of his bed, wimpering.
The neighbors did not see Jacob leave his house in the morning, so they came to find out what was the matter

and they were saddened when they found him cold, laying in the bed

" Who will care for Boy? " was the main question.

" We shall all take care of the Noble Beast " they agreed

Boy went home with the butcher, where he had all the meat he could eat,

however.....
he did not touch the steaks and chops
Nor did he touch the water.

In the morning, they found him gone, and went looking for him.

He was laying on the grave of his master Jacob
Next, the clothier took him in, and kept him in his house, by a warm fireplace and on a soft rug

but he would not eat or drink, and in the morning, they found him, laying on Jacob's grave

Everyone tried to get him to eat and drink, and stay in their houses, but they always found him on the grave of his master, the fisherman

finally, they found him once again, his body cold and laying on the grave.

He had gone home to his master....

He went to where all good dogs go, where no harm nor neglect would follow

His body was laid to rest next to Jacob's ... as it is to this day
